FEATURED PUBLICATION: Bridal Guide Magazine

Love and Romance: Put a Honeymoon Twist on Your Travel Piece
By Roberta Beach Jacobson in Karpathos, Greece

When you’re thinking about where to sell your travel articles, don’t forget bridal magazines.

These magazines usually run travel features in every issue. And this type of publication has proliferated in recent years… so there’s no shortage of opportunity.

At Bridal Guide magazine, Travel Editor Jenna Mahoney is in the market for romantic travel destination pieces of 1000 to 2000 words. Keep in mind: Some couples also want to get married in an exotic place, not just honeymoon there.

So, if you’re traveling overseas this summer — consider whether or not your travel destination would make a good wedding or honeymoon destination. Look for venues where a reader could hold the event and check hotels for special “wedding” or “honeymoon” packages, too.

Also, you don’t have to limit yourself to romantic travel… this month’s issue of Bridal Guide includes some adventure travel, too.  To get started, you should query Ms. Mahoney with clips. Send them to: jmahoney@bridalguide.com.

You’ll find plenty of details about this bi-monthly publication at http://www.bridalguide.com — although you won’t find Writer’s Guidelines. I highly recommend you get your hands on a copy of the magazine to get a feel for the editorial flavor before you send in your query.

The rate of pay at this publication is good. For their standard destination piece, they pay $500 to $1,000 or 50 cents a word. The fee is paid on acceptance (which means you don’t have to wait until it runs to cash your check).
