Vote For This Year's Grand Prize Photo

Here we are — crossing the finish line of our first year of weekly photo tips and monthly photo challenges.
Over the last 12 months, we’ve run challenge themes on a wide variety of topics — starting with coffee (what every good challenge should start with) and culminating with more personal themes like photographs of your hometown and pictures of your pets.
I’ve really enjoyed looking through all the entries. In many ways I feel like I’ve taken a visual trip around the world and back again.
I should say, too: Your skills are improving.  With each week’s photo tip, I would see great improvements in the quality of the entries.  I hope you’ll continue to tune in and hone your skills.  Once we announce this year’s grand prize winner (at the end of this month), we’ll resume our weekly tips and monthly challenges. But first things first…
$2,000 GOES TO YOUR TOP PICK.
This month it’s up to you to choose our “Photograph of the Year.”  The top pick will win our $2,000 grand prize and bragging rights for The Year’s Best Photograph.
Here’s how it works…
I took the liberty of adding a few Honorable Mentions to our Hall of Fame — pictures I thought deserved a chance at the pot, even though they hadn’t made it into our collection of winners earlier this year.
You’ll see all the photos in contention for the prize when you click on the Hall of Fame link on our website (www.thephotographerslife.com).
Here’s how you can cast your vote for the top prize from among them:
1.  Go to www.thephotographerslife.com and log in with your username and password.  If you don’t have one yet, you can register here.
2.  Click on “Hall of Fame,” which is on the right under “Photo Challenge.”
3.  Click on the thumbnail of your favorite photo.
4.  Scroll down underneath the photo and click on the arrow next to the button “rate.”
5.  Choose “1.”
6.  Click “rate.”
And that’s it.
While you’re looking through the choices, remember the “technical” considerations, like the rule of thirds, diagonal lines, focus, cropping, etc.  Then vote for the photo that touches you — the unique picture that goes beyond your average snap shot.
Voting ends on October 24. We’ll keep track of the results and announce the grand prize winner (who will take home the $2,000 prize) on October 26.
If you entered one of the monthly photo challenges this year – thank you!
Votes are due by 8:00 a.m. EST, Wednesday, October 24, 2007.
