REFLECT ON THIS
By Shelly Perry in Portland, OR
This month, it’s ok to be distracted by shiny objects. In fact, the point of March’s Photo Challenge theme, “Reflect on This,” is to be captivated by the light and reflections around you.
So turn your lens on windows, mirrors, lakes and puddles, glass and metal, ice and plastic. Anything that reflects.
But don’t just take a simple snapshot of something shiny. Before you compose your shot, remember to take into account composition, Rule of Thirds, proper exposure, focus, etc.
Here are a few examples to get you started:

Reflect On This

** TIP: To get clear night and evening shots like these, make sure you bring a tripod or set your camera on something solid.
You could also take a more figurative approach to this month’s theme and interpret “reflections” as thoughts or feelings. Shots of people actively thinking or reflecting on life’s ups and downs can make great stock photos. Take this one, which has sold more than 2,300 times on iStock:

Photos will be judged according to light, composition, focus, and theme. Only one photo per person may be entered, and the photo must be taken by the entrant.
To enter, send us your ONE best theme-appropriate photo. Multiple entries from the same photographer will be deleted.
Submissions for March’s Photo Challenge are due by 8:00 a.m. EST on Monday, March 30, 2009. You can submit your photos by clicking on the “Enter to Win” link on the right side bar of this page.
