Where to Get Published: Computer Basics for Writers and Photographers

If you’re a writer and you also happen to be fairly savvy in all things Windows (including Vista) and Microsoft Word 2007, we could use your help updating our second edition of Computer Basics for Writers and Photographers.

This assignment isn’t for everyone. This is for the geekiest of the geeks. The ones who know the most recent Windows programs and can explain to others how to use them in the simplest of terms.

But to update this guide, you need more than computer knowledge. You also need to have a feel for what to include in the guide and what to leave out.

The idea is to keep it simple. For example, you may know that the CPU is connected to northbridge via the front side bus. But that doesn’t matter to our readers. They only need to know practical, everyday things like where “File” and “Edit” disappeared to when Microsoft updated Word 2007.

As a writer for the update of Computer Basics for Writers and Photographers, your job is to update day-to-day computer tasks in easy, approachable language. And if you can do that for us, we’ll pay you competitive writer fees.

But before you apply, you MUST be able to:

** Create screenshots from Windows Vista and Word 2007 (Note: if you don’t know how to do this, Google “how to create screenshots” and make sure you understand.)

** Own or have access to both Windows Vista and Microsoft Word 2007

** Include samples of or links to other writing you’ve done

If you think you fit the profile and you’d like to write for our new computer guide, then send an email to Lori@thetravelwriterslife.com with a short paragraph describing your computer knowledge and qualifications, and one to three links to some of your written pieces (published or not).
