March's Photo Challenge: The Number 3
This month’s Photo Challenge Theme is: The Number 3
To celebrate the third month of the year, your challenge is to go out and look for things to photograph in groups or sets of three.
Professional Photographer Shelly Perry says that when you’re photographing a number of objects, it’s a good idea to try and get an odd number of items in your photos. Photo buyers and viewers tend to be more drawn to images with an odd number of items, because it’s more balanced than an image with an even number.
I’ll include some photographs below to inspire your creativity.
Remember, each month’s first-place winner gets a $30 gift certificate to our online bookstore. And the first-, second-, and third-place winners are automatically entered into the Grand Prize photo challenge — coming up next October — for a chance to win $2,000 before the next holiday shopping season.
So, keep your eyes open this month for things or people in groups of three. Once you start looking, I bet you’ll be surprised at how many chances to photograph threes surround you every day.
Here are some ideas to get your creative wheels turning:
*Friends, families, and pets spending time together in trios:
*Groups of three in the workplace:
*Everyday objects or foods in groups of three:
* Threes in your hobbies and activities:
This month’s first-place winner will get a $30 gift certificate to the AWAI E-Bookstore, and the first-, second-, and third-place winners will all be entered into the Hall of Fame to compete for next year’s annual $2,000 Grand Prize.
Stay tuned for February’s winners, coming up tomorrow.
