May Photo Challenge Theme: Fun Phone Photos

This month’s Photo Challenge theme is: Fun Phone Photos
You can read all the books in the world about taking great pictures. You can watch videos on YouTube and subscribe to free tutorials online. You can read your camera manual cover to cover.  And you can memorize where all the buttons are and what they do.
But good photography really comes down to one thing: Good composition. And you can do that with nothing but the tiny camera in your phone.
So let’s put all the bells and whistles and expensive equipment aside. I’d like to see you get creative with composition and color and submit your best phone photo for this month’s Challenge.
I’m sure you carry your phone with you almost everywhere you go, so there really is no excuse to miss a photo opportunity… and there’s no reason why you can’t practice your photo skills a little bit each day.
And since every photo needs a little photo editing, I’ll allow creative processing, too. In fact, I encourage it. You can use a photo editing program like Lightroom or Photoshop. Or, if you have an iPhone or Android, you can try any number of their photo processing apps. (See this article on camera phone tips.)
Here are some fun photos from our staff camera phones to inspire you…

Submissions for May’s Challenge are due by 8:00 a.m. Eastern Time on Monday, May 30.
You can submit your photos by clicking on the “Enter to Win” tab on our website.
This month’s first-place winner will get a $30 gift certificate to the AWAI E-Bookstore, and the first-, second-, and third-place winners will all be entered into the Hall of Fame to compete for next year’s annual $2,000 Grand Prize.
Good luck!
