In Russia, Sit on Your Luggage… and Other Strange Travel Superstitions

It’s a Russian superstition to sit on your luggage before a trip.  Some say it’s to reflect first on anything you might have forgotten. It’s bad luck in Russia to return for a missing item. Others say it’s simply to take a moment of silence to prepare for a safe journey.
