DC Day 3: Reasons NOT To Be a Stock Photographer

After two days at The Ultimate Stock Photography Workshop in Washington, D.C. I totally get it… there are a lot of reasons why you might not want to be a stock photographer…

  1. You make your own hours
  2. You get to travel whenever and wherever you please
  3. You can be your own boss
  4. You get to spend more time with your family
  5. You get to be creative (and who wants that?)

Sounds ridiculous right? That’s because it is. Stock photography can be done anywhere at any time. You can do it as little or as much as you want. It can be a weekend hobby or a full-time “job.”
The hardest part is just getting started so that’s what hobbiest photographer turned stock photographer, Bonnie Caton, talked about today.
After her first rejection she waited a full year and four months before submitting more photos.  Meanwhile, she could have been earning royalties had she simply given it another try.
Start today. Take three photos from your library and upload them this weekend to the agency of your choice.  If you get rejected, back up and regroup. If they reject your images because of the way you edited them, get help with photo editing. We have products here that can help you or you can set aside some time over the next few months to learn on your own.
If your images get rejected because of subject or composition, again, we have programs that can help or you can try and learn on your own.
But if they get rejected, you’re that much closer to complete freedom. Freedom from the 9-5. Freedom to create your own hours, work when and wher you want, and more.

Tomorrow, I’ll send you some photos some of our attendees got on the photo shoots.
