Freedom: One of the Many Benefits of an Internet Researcher
Yesterday, I told you how Sandy Ferguson freed herself from the 9 to 5 grind by landing research gigs she could do at any time…from anywhere…
Apart from the generous income – earning up to $50 an hour – freedom is a huge benefit for the Internet researcher…
For Rachael Kraft, it means she can – with minimum fuss — travel the world with her military husband whenever he gets reassigned.
When Rachael worked as a teacher, she had to find a new job with every single move. “Teaching is a career where it helps to stay in one school district for several years, to build relationships with the students, build up your curriculum, and bond with your co-workers,” she says. But, “As a military wife, I was not in a position to stay in one district long-term … and substitute teaching was miserable.”
So when the school year ended in 2012, Rachael knew it was time to make a change.
On the recommendation of her sister, she ordered Secrets of Becoming an Internet Research Specialist, to learn how to turn the hours she already spent on the computer into a regular paycheck. (It’s the program Sandy created. You can read more about it here.)
Rachael’s sister knew about the program because, as a successful copywriter, she regularly hired researchers to help her gather background information on products and market trends before writing sales packages. And while Rachael was skeptical that her “browsing hours” could really be worth $20, $30, or even $50 a piece, she was willing to give it a try.
By the end of May, she’d finished the program. In June, she landed her first client. By January, she was working with six or seven clients a month doing product research for copywriters and market research for business owners, charging around $30 an hour for her time.
Now, instead of getting up early and driving to a strange school for eight hours of misery as a substitute teacher, Rachael commutes to her couch. With a cup of coffee by her side, she’ll browse the web for a few hours, then type up her findings into neat reports and citation sheets for her clients.
It’s not hard … and it’s not boring.
“I enjoy how many of the research projects involve interesting topics that I can apply to my own life,” says Rachael. “Just this past week, I’ve learned about a new nutritional supplement and smart stock investing!”
Now, when her husband’s on the road … Rachael can go, too. No more worrying about job applications. All she needs is her laptop…and an Internet connection at the other end.
And, instead of a long-distance Skype call at the end of the day, she and her husband can go out to dinner, explore each new city at their leisure, and spend time together as a couple.
In the next five years, Rachael’s goal is to make at least $72,000 a year from her research work by raising her rates and taking on more clients. She’s confident she can do it, too – and knows of other Internet Research Specialists out there doing nearly six figures.
Okay…research doesn’t have the same perks and prestige as travel writing. But it requires a lot less work…and pretty good pay…for as much or as little of your time as you wish…
Stay tuned for another success story coming your way tomorrow.
