Cool Travel Video: Exactly Why I Love to Travel
This cool travel video is exactly why I like to travel…
Once you get past the cost of the flight, there are so many experiences (both in your home country and abroad) that cost far less than the price of a nice dinner out. Many are even free.
Plus, studies show you’ll be happier, healthier, and more productive when you travel more, too.
And often, great experiences like those in the video can come with a $0 price tag, if you simply capture short, little video clips of your experiences while you’re out and about.
Video is still the hottest way to get paid to travel. The market is wide open and the competition is next to nothing. So, I’d like to give some coverage to this opportunity that can help fund your vacations—simply by switching to video mode on your camera and creating short 30-second to four-minute clips of the things you see and do.
Travel videographer Tom Reissman has been getting “paid to go on vacation” for four years now, taking safaris in Africa, hiking the Andalucian Mountains in Spain, swimming with dolphins in Australia, and more, by simply putting together promotional videos from each trip and providing them to vacation or hotel company websites.
He started first by bartering his videos for free stays. (And this is what I think you should do, too, when you’re just starting out.) But today, Tom charges anywhere from $200 to $4,000 per video, and he makes a cool $80,000 to $90,000 a year on top of his free travel.
He’s free to create his own hours (“freelance with an emphasis on free,” he says), travel where he wants to go, and film what he wants to film… to be his own boss, and lead his own life… and enjoy some pretty amazing experiences along the way.
If the idea of getting paid to go on your next trip simply by filming your experiences (which is easier than you might think), then this could be your perfect new career — or at least the perfect way to go on that vacation you’ve always dreamed of.
As Tom points out, you may not get rich fast with travel videography… but it can help you travel like a millionaire without having to pay a millionaire’s bills.
